Swiss Animated Film Group
GSFA-STFG is the network of all animation professionals in Switzerland. GSFA is the Swiss chapter of ASIFA.
Animated films are made frame by frame, whether by animating drawings, dimensional objects (puppets, plasticine, everyday objects...) or entirely by computer, in 2D or 3D. Nowadays techniques are often mixed, and computers have become an indispensable tool for practically all animators.
Swiss animators usually express themselves in the short format. Swiss films circulate at festivals and on television screens worldwide. At present we witness the emergence of an animation industry in our country, with the creation of television series, short film collections, medium length and long feature projects. The GSFA is in direct contact with the different subsidizing institutions, such as the Federal Office of Culture and its Film department, or Swiss Television SSR SRG with the Pacte de l'Audiovisuel (Audiovisual Pact, a co-financing contract between TV and the film industry), as well as the various regional institutions and agencies, in order to implement satisfactory solutions for the specific needs of the animators.
In order to further the exchange within the animation profession in our country, the GSFA is at the origin of the Swiss Animation Awards (SAA). Animation techniques are used for television (credits, trailers, interstitials, etc.) as well as for corporate communication, advertising, video games, music videos, the web, etc.
To facilitate animation workshops for children and young people, the GSFA has founded a task group called Graines d'Animation (Seeds of Animation).
The GSFA is present at the National Film Days of Solothurn (in particular on Saturday with a brunch and the animation competition programme in the afternoon), as well as at the animation festivals Fantoche (Baden) and Annecy (France). Other events are organised on a regular base.
The GSFA boutique has compilation DVDs of shorts, posters and books on offer.
The information medium of the GSFA is its quarterly journal Animix. Also check the news section of this site.
Everybody who is interested in the art of animation can join the GSFA by becoming a member.
The GSFAsecretary's office is open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday morning.
